Day 21: Describe the sound of fire in a fire place. Be descriptive.

I love the sound of crackling firewood. It is so peaceful. The bright orange flame lights up my room so perfectly. After the warmth of the glowing flames die the glowing red embers reminds me a once fierce fire and I envision its sharpness and warmth as I drift off into a deep sleep.

Day 20: Write SNOW in an acrostic poem.

Snowy nights

No book untouched

Outside is sparkling

Welcome Mr. Winter

I know it is very lame but it’s the best I can do.

Day 19: Talk about a movie you like to watch during this time of year.

I like to watch movies that make me cry. I am not sure why but it helps me cope with many things.

My free write today is going to be a few Robert Frost poems about snow/ winter.

Dust of Snow

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

by Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

An Old Man’s Winter Night

by Robert Frost

All out-of-doors looked darkly in at him
Through the thin frost, almost in separate stars,
That gathers on the pane in empty rooms.
What kept his eyes from giving back the gaze
Was the lamp tilted near them in his hand.
What kept him from remembering what it was
That brought him to that creaking room was age.
He stood with barrels round him—at a loss.
And having scared the cellar under him
In clomping there, he scared it once again
In clomping off;—and scared the outer night,
Which has its sounds, familiar, like the roar
Of trees and crack of branches, common things,
But nothing so like beating on a box.
A light he was to no one but himself
Where now he sat, concerned with he knew what,
A quiet light, and then not even that.
He consigned to the moon—such as she was,
So late-arising—to the broken moon
As better than the sun in any case
For such a charge, his snow upon the roof,
His icicles along the wall to keep;
And slept. The log that shifted with a jolt
Once in the stove, disturbed him and he shifted,
And eased his heavy breathing, but still slept.
One aged man—one man—can't keep a house,
A farm, a countryside, or if he can,
It's thus he does it of a winter night.

Day 15: Martin Luther King Jr wrote the famous “I have a dream speech” Write your own speech.

I have a dream that one day there will be justice for all things wrong. Such as bullying, murder, rape, prostitution etc. There is so much hate in this world it sickens me to even think about it. People are greedy and just don’t care about anyone other than themselves. Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said :the most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?” Even the smallest acts of kindness could change someones entire outlook on life. If a child is beaten every day of their lives that is all the know but if one person takes time out of their so called BUSY schedule to show that child love then that child has a new perspective on life. Like donating to charities. No one said you had to donate everything you have. A simple dollar can go a long way. My dream is to try to help one person a day even in the smallest of ways like opening a door, helping out if they are short on change etc. I believe that by doing that it can make the world a better place on person at a time. I will not discriminate anyone by race, gender, ethnicity etc. In the end we all look the same and God will except all of no matter what. I think that being rude, hateful etc is distasteful and if that was done to you you wouldn’t like it. As I was always taught as a child treat people the way you would like to be treated. I also hope for world peace and the end to hunger just like many people do but if everyone is not supporting these causes then there will never be a solution. Our soldiers are out there fighting for this country because of bitterness and hate. If we all could just get along they could be back with the families and all countries would be at peace with one another but as I said before there is too much hate and disrespect. Well that is my dream. What is yours?

The worst snowstorm I can think of right now happened back in 2007-2008. It snowed about 8 inches or more knocking out all power. We were out of power for about 5 days and we couldn’t even get out of our driveway for at least 2 days. It was terrible. So far we haven’t had one that bad that I remember.

Day 10: Write a story from the point of view of a snowflake.

Falling, Falling, Falling from high above the world.

As I near earth I can feel the temperature change overcome me.

I see all my brothers and sisters falling quickly to the ground.

Some are getting pushed by the wind and some are just slowly drifting.

I land on a piece of glass but only for a moment until I melt away.
